Some parts of the province could still expect significant weather through to Monday morning.

Much of Saskatchewan was hit with heavy snow and freezing rain over the weekend, with southwest and central areas of the province seeing the worst of the storm.

“It’s super hard to guesstimate, but just from the photos we’re seeing so far, the southwest corner really got smoked, because the snow and wind started (there) earlier,” said Terri Lang, services meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada.

She added that the area around Kindersley had seen blizzard conditions essentially all day Sunday, as well.

Lang stressed the storm system bringing the snow was tracking north and east through Sunday, meaning other parts of the province could still expect significant weather through to Monday morning. She said the southeast corner of the province in particular could still be in line for a heavy shot of freezing rain.

The weekend snow dump was expected to be followed by cooler conditions across the province, with wind chill values pushing into the -20 C range through Tuesday, Lang said.
